Welcome to Avenues to Independence's
Blog! We are a non-profit that serves adults with developmental disabilities
in the Chicago area. We provide residential, vocational, job placement and
home-based services to adults with physical, intellectual, and other
developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome, autism, epilepsy and
cerebral palsy. It is our goal to provide work and living opportunities
enabling those with disabilities to be as independent as possible.
We decided to start a blog to share
our mission and our client's lives. Many of our clients face challenges every
day and their positive attitudes and perseverance are inspirational. We hope to
give you a look into their world to help improve your understanding of our
clients lives and show their involvement in the community.
